In just under 20 years, Tesla has evolved from two founders with a vision for reliable electric vehicles to the world’s most valuable automaker. Along the way, it has attracted a community of fans, followers and drivers — all of whom profess a devotion to the brand’s mission, style, and performance.

On August 6, 2022, a large contingent of Tesla fans will gather in San Luis Obispo, California, for the Tesla Owners California Takeover. There, they will celebrate all things Tesla and share the latest insights on how to get the most out of their Tesla experience. Drivyn will be among those gathered at the event, sharing with Tesla drivers how they can maximize their driving skills and get the most out of their driving experience.

Drivyn was founded by Tesla owners who are passionate Tesla enthusiasts. As they shared their love for the brand with their family and friends, they found new initiates to be awed by everything about the cars — particularly the concept of “Full Self-Driving.” However, that aspect of Tesla’s automotive technology gave rise to safety concerns.

“Autopilot is great for early adopters or thrill-seekers, but we discovered that many average drivers find the technology to be daunting,” says Drivyn Co-founder Sam Rabinowitz. “Trusting the vehicle to maneuver itself into oncoming traffic, or to make a steering correction at a curve while heading directly into a wall, is contrary to anyone’s instincts.”

At first, Sam and the the rest of his team at Drivyn were puzzled by the lack of trust others had for Teslas. They knew that the cars had been tested and proven to be among the safest on the road. What they eventually determined was that new Tesla drivers would benefit from being trained in the car’s unique features. Thus, Drivyn was born.

“For some drivers, it’s not intuitive to go from a two-pedal internal combustion engine car to an all-electric Tesla designed to be uniquely driven with one pedal, or even none,” explains Judith Everett, Co-Founder and President of Drivyn. “Nor is it easy to give up control to an autonomous vehicle. It can be amazing, but it can also be scary! Some Tesla features require retraining our instincts. It’s why we created Drivyn. Nothing can match having an expert Advisor there in person guiding you.”

Drivyn gives drivers access to a proprietary training system that helps new Tesla drivers learn all about the brand’s technology, and develop the skills necessary to most effectively use it. The Drivyn program connects Tesla owners as well as potential owners with trained Drivyn Advisors for one-on-one instruction. The training assists drivers in mastering Tesla’s instrument-based driving technology so they can drive their vehicles with complete safety and confidence.

The Drivyn app allows clients to select and connect with an advisor of their choice, and to choose from a variety of courses that provide hands-on expert instruction that addresses their individual needs. The in-person training can be taken at the students home or whatever location is most convenient. Drivyn’s courses include:

  • Tesla Ride Along — a 30 to 60 minute course during which students learn about charging, daily driving, and the car’s features while experiencing what it is like to be on the road in a Tesla.
  • Introductory Course — a 2 hour course catering to new owners who want to increase their confidence and decrease their auto insurance costs. (In certain states, those with Tesla insurance are charged more for insurance based on their driving safety score.)
  • Advanced Course — a 2 hour course that imparts a complete understanding of the Tesla’s functions and features.
  • Autonomous and Full Self Driving (FSD) Course — a 3 hour course that gives drivers the knowledge and experience they need to perfect their Autopilot and FSD skills.

In the automotive world, Tesla is in a class of its own, providing drivers with technology that is revolutionary, but not necessarily intuitive. The Drivyn training platform empowers drivers to develop the skills and instincts that they need to have a full, safe, and relaxed Tesla driving experience.

“Adult drivers do not generally think they need driving lessons and are often embarrassed, even subconsciously, to admit needing classes,” says Everett. “But we don’t teach them how to drive; we teach them how to get the most out of their Tesla vehicle.”
