Houston, TX – September 19, 2023 – Fresh Spirit Wellness, a leading advocate for anti-domestic violence, healthy relationships, and support for survivors of domestic violence, is thrilled to announce the celebration of its 26th anniversary with the highly anticipated Royal Empowerment Experience and Gala. This grand event will take place on Saturday, October 20-21, 2023, at 6:00 PM, located at 816 Town and Country Blvd., level three, Houston, TX 77024, moderated by the Master and Mistress of Ceremonies Emilian White and Kim Gagne.
The Royal Empowerment Experience and Gala will pay tribute to the Kings of Queens, highlighting men’s vital role in championing the cause against domestic violence. Celebrating Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the organization will kick off its weekend on Friday, October 20th. Guests will attend an empowerment seminar that aims to break stereotypes and promote male involvement in the advocacy for healthier relationships and violence prevention. The men’s workshop “Kings Doing It Right” will be hosted by Bel-Air’s TV actor and founder of What The Heart Wants Wellness Organization, Brooklyn McLinn. The women’s workshop “All The Single Ladies” will be hosted by relationship coach and founder of The Leadership LaunchPad, David Burrus. Lastly, the couple’s workshop “For The Love Of Us” will be hosted by community outreach leaders and founders of Random Acts of Kindness, David and Treveia Dennis.
On Saturday, October 21st, the Royal Empowerment Gala promises to be an evening of inspiration and recognition as it celebrates the work and unwavering dedication of individuals who have tirelessly fought against domestic violence and worked towards nurturing healthier relationships in our communities. The highlight of the evening will be the recognition of individuals and organizations who have made extraordinary contributions to the cause. Fresh Spirit Wellness will honor these champions of change for their relentless efforts to promote healthier relationships and support survivors of domestic violence. Award honorees include Roger Woolsey, Anil Lewis, Brooklyn McLinn, David Dennis, David Burrus, Ferrell Phelps, Willie T. Adolph Jr., Jim McIngvale, Ryan Walsh, Emilian White, Pastor Sam Gilbert, Jose Grinan, Courtney Glaude, and Rico Davis along with The Salt and Pepper Gang.

Fresh Spirit Wellness for Women, Inc (FSWW) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and is the oldest Domestic Violence agency in Harris County founded by an African American female, Dr. Conte Terrell, in 1997. FSWW assists and supports survivors who have been verbally, emotionally, physically, or sexually abused. FSWW serves as an out-care program and is open to anyone
searching for support and healing from the toxic effects of domestic violence. Our mission is to empower individuals impacted by the trauma of domestic violence by encouraging, educating, equipping, and empowering victims/survivors confronted with unexpected challenges due to verbal, emotional, physical, or sexual abuse by providing culturally appropriate, trauma-informed, client-centered crisis intervention services to help restore safety, peace, healing, and wholeness to their lives.
“Research shows African American women are being killed by domestic violence at a rate three times higher than any other ethnicity,” states Dr. Conte Terrell. “As a survivor of domestic violence, our culturally specific services are vital.”
Dr. Conte is a survivor of a ten-year marriage to a physically abusive spouse and one of the nation’s most sought-after Domestic Violence Recovery Experts. She holds many titles, such as an ordained minister, speaker, counselor, master empowerment coach, coveted author, and radio personality. Her personal survival testimony has inspired and assisted thousands of women, couples, and families in overcoming and healing from abusive relationships. This October, her organization looks forward to spotlighting victorious survivors through their program while remembering those we’ve lost to this tragedy and encouraging silent victims to come forward to receive the help they deserve.
