Forevermore is a digital platform that seeks to transform how families process grief and preserve family connections across generations. When people lose a loved one, they are often left wishing they had more time with them. They turn to photos, recordings, and even voicemails to preserve their memory and the sound of their voice. However, it can sometimes feel like it’s not enough.
“We deserve to have more to remember them by, and that is why we created Forevermore,” says CEO and founder Michael Curtis. “People we share DNA with who have rich histories, unique insights, and funny stories.”
Forevermore uses technology to help preserve meaningful legacies. Instead of relying solely on memory, which may fade over time, families can turn to the platform to access preserved stories from loved ones. It serves as a way for people to listen and connect while creating a family archive that could last for generations. Forevermore provides an opportunity for families to stay connected and keep memories alive, from early childhood memories, relationships, beloved family recipes, vacation highlights, advice, and everything in between.
The Founder’s Motivation
The unexpected loss of a loved one is a difficult experience. Curtis saw firsthand how overwhelming grief can be in the aftermath when his girlfriend tragically lost her mother two years ago. Due to the circumstances surrounding her death, the girlfriend only had her mother’s watch and a single voicemail. There weren’t any other mementos, so the girlfriend had to rely on her memories.
“While two years may not seem like a long time, when you start to approach five years, or even a decade, the smallest memories slowly start to fade,” Curtis says.
Forevermore is built on the belief that loved ones’ stories should not end once they are gone. The idea for the digital platform was born out of compassion and empathy for those struggling with fading memories and grief.
What Makes Forevermore Different
Forevermore was created to build a family community on the digital platform, with the specific purpose of preserving memories and fostering connections across generations. It is community-based storytelling: people share fond memories to build an archive. The focus of Forevermore is on ongoing connection and building a familial legacy.
There are preservation devices designed for gifting that preserve a person’s memories for their family. Forevermore is not intended to be a seasonal novelty product but a platform that encourages family interaction.
“We are here to help families connect, but not just for a single moment, for what we hope will be forever. Generation after generation getting to know their elders and loved ones, not from stories passed down by others, but from the people who lived the stories themselves,” Curtis explains.
The Philosophy Behind the Brand
Grief psychologist Dennis Klass developed the Continuing Bonds Theory, which holds that it’s normal for someone to bond with a loved one after they pass. This philosophy was born out of 15 years of grief research, where it was determined that people cannot completely move on from losing someone extremely close to them.
“In every big moment of your life, good or bad, they will be on your mind. That is okay. That is healthy. The Continuing Bonds Theory states that ‘Grief does not require detachment. Rather, the bereaved learn to live with the presence of the one they lost in a new way,’” Curtis adds.
The purpose of Forevermore is to retain those bonds and keep them thriving. It is also an archive for future generations to learn about a family member by listening to their stories in their own voice. Forevermore serves as a bridge across time that preserves family connections and retains a loved one’s legacy.
