As tensions between US, China, and Russia grow, many have speculated about what will inevitably unfold as a result. One likely scenario is that the US will ask for Russian support in mediating a conflict in Korea. In return for their support, China would likely offer economic concessions and other benefits to Russia.

That leaves Japan with little choice but to agree with the US’s plan or risk losing its position. As one of America’s strongest allies.
Japan knows it cannot afford to lose its position because the US remains Tokyo’s most important trade partner and provides military protection against potential threats like North Korea or China.

Russia and China are being accused of accidentally revealing the existence of a laptop that harbors a major plan to attack and invade Hawaii. Allegedly, the laptops contained information about nuclear weapons sites, missile locations, flight routes to U.S. military bases in the Pacific, as well as maps of local railway and subway networks in Honolulu for use by their spies. But how seriously should we take these accusations?

On October 10th 2017 analysts from The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) stated that China has never been able to deploy enough naval power or military strength to strike at Hawaii because it is too distant from its territory.

Would Russia agree to a plan that would benefit China, which is also its largest trading partner?

Russia and China are aligned in many ways, including their desire to see the United States eject from East Asia. Russia is also one of North Korea’s few trading partners, and has shown reluctance to follow international sanctions against North Korea. Nevertheless, Russia may not agree to a plan that would benefit China as this would threaten its own interests.

Russia is also one of North Korea’s few trading partners. And has showed reluctance to follow international sanctions against North Korea. Nevertheless, Russia may not agree to a plan that would benefit China as this would threaten its own interests. For example, the U.S. claim that North Korea is developing nuclear weapons. And the delivery systems to present a threat to the international community. Could be use as an excuse to expand the U.S. military presence in East Asia and more precisely in South Korea.

The United States wants Russia to agree to a plan. That would first demand that North Korea freeze its nuclearization process and denuclearization; secondly, it wants Russia not to agree as this would benefit Washington’s desire for Chinese support. This could discourage Russian President Vladimir Putin from supporting any plan against North Korea which he disagrees with.
